Canal Society of Ohio collection, 1830-2010.

Materials within this collection were compiled and donated by the Canal Society of Ohio. The administrative information pertaining to the development and activities of the CSO is found in Series C and Series G. The materials covering the CSO organization include trustee meeting minutes, membership rosters, and tour guidebooks. The bulk of the collection consists primarily of materials relating to the planning, construction, use, operation, and rebuilding of canals in Ohio. Many of the items are not originals but are copies of documents. There are some items concerning canals in other states and countries. There is very little information on the individuals who built and operated the canals and canal boats. Minimal genealogical information is available through this collection.
